Why I Only-Sort-Of Liked Twilight

I sort of liked the first book. Perhaps my judgment is not quite so fair because I read a few of L.J Smith's Night World series before this book.I kind of like to think that I discovered something, and delightfully delude myself into thinking that I am the only one that knows about it.

It could be because I like to imagine how the characters look like, and I could not do that after glimpsing the trailer. Or it could be that that Robert Pattinson (whom I am numerogically and astrologically compatible with except where it says that I would try to direct or control his thoughts too much) said that he is not even really into the whole vampire thing, and that he did not even read the book before he went to audition. I liked him when he was Cedric Diggory.

Back to Twilight,the book. I admit that I did something that I should not have done. I indulged my selfish impulses and wikied the other three books, and found many things of interest. Jacob Black, one of Bella's love interests discovers that her newborn baby is his soulmate. Like Meg Cabot have nothing against interspecies unions, but I must stop where a guys likes the mother, then he falls in love with the daughter when she is like an hour old. I found out that Bella wants to turn into a vampire, but refuses to marry Edward because her parents' divorce has made her cynical. Um, does she not realize that unlike marriage if she turns into a vampire, it definitely will not be an ''I don't want to play anymore, so let's get a divorce thing'' like Jerry once said in Sabine Woman.

Or it could be that my friend's younger sister has read the series as well.

Anyone Else Addicted to Harry Potter Fanfiction?

I know that I do not talk too much about this, but I am crazy about Harry Potter fanfiction. I started out this love affair when I was in grade ten after my fateful introduction to it by a friend. At the time, I was completely into the Lily/James ship. When I read the chapter ''Snape's Worst Memory'', I squealed.

Then, I cozied up to Draco/Ginny or Hermione. I love Draco's darkness combined with that innocenct Gryffindor bravery. Yes, I love everything Slytherin. That is the sexiest house for me. This is my fantasy: I would be Gryffindor girl with a secret liason with a Slytherin. Alas, it is fated that can only happen in my imagination. I just love love/hate relationships because they are just so fun to read. I do not even mind cliches because it is really up to the author on how good it is and it would have to be rated M. One of my recent obsessions in fanfiction is this:

The Pansy/Percy ship. They are probably my favourite non-canon pair. There is a story by Coconut Girl, and it is absolutely divine to read. I know that Pansy is just plain annoying in the books the way she just follows Draco around, but in this story The Sweetest Revenge, I can actually relate to her. And, I just love how she always gets what she wants. I know Percy would never be the typical romantic hero, but now he just seems so adorable in all his pompousness. Definitely a Capricorn.

Who Else Writes Romance?

I cannot get over it. On her blog portfolio, it states that Lisa Kleypas is a scorpio and a dragon. I receive it as a good sign that a favourite author and I share the same Chinese and astrological signs. This means that my not-so-secret dream of one day getting a book published might actually happen. I would finish each story thinking it is the best thing ever, and walk around with a buzz, only to be convinced it is garbage in a few months. And that I have to start writing.

As an avid romance reader, the excerpt I came across of Smooth Talking Stranger is arguably one of the best. There weren’t any sexy kissing scenes, but I could feel the sexual tension. This is the worst kind of reader torture, where I have to anticipate any kind of touch. In a blog, a reviewer who disliked Hardy Cates in Sugar Daddy (the first book) says that Kleypas has managed to change her mind about him. Since, she is a favourite author; I think I will fall for him too.

This is why I read romance novels: You get to fall in love. Another is the deep emotional connection between two people. They may be different in the way of doing things, but they are able to ‘‘get each other’’.

And, I enjoy sighing in satisfaction at a good happily-ever-after.
